Bought six months ago, this beauty. Before this went to 12, 2001 Honda Civic, Mazda in June 2005 and the pile of foreign cars. BMW has long wanted and now my dream has come true. In general, I will not describe how beautiful she is, etc.Interior: very spacious, but rear seat themselves comfortably two people (prevents tunnel) in the interior is nothing superfluous (classic), all displayed on the small screen (I-Drive) from the closure of glass to a fine THAT.
The new BMW 5 Series Sedan is set the conquer the market. With its dynamic qualities and tailor-made design, this new car is the epitome of the sporting but elegant, innovative and driver-oriented executive express. The sixth generation of BMW’s immensely successful four-door stands out through modern aesthetics in design, conveys all of the Sheer Driving Pleasure so typical of BMW, and offers unparalleled efficiency in the upper midrange segment.
The 5 Series got its name by being the fifth of the "new series" cars after the V-8 and Isetta era. The preceding models were the 700, the "New Class", the "New Six" 2500/2800/Bavaria and the CS. The 5 Series was intended to replace the older New Six sedans. The first generation's body was styled by Marcello Gandini, based on the Bertone 1970 BMW Garmisch 2002ti Geneva show car. Gandini also did the Fiat 132 and Alfa Romeo Alfetta, two other cars that have a similar design. There have been six generations of the 5 Series to date. To differentiate between them, they are referred to by their unique chassis numbers (EXX or FXX)The 5 Series began the BMW tradition of being named with a three-digit number. The first digit (5 in this case) represents the model, and the following two digits (usually) represent the size of the engine in decilitres, which is the main distinguishing difference. Additional letters or words may be added to the end of the three-digit number to define the fuel type (petrol or diesel), engine or transmission details, and the body style. The 'i' originally stood for (fuel) 'injection'.
My friends and family think that I have the best job in the world. Every time they see me I am driving a new car that has been dropped off for evaluation. Corvettes, Mustangs, Explorers, and Sedan De Villes are just a few of the vehicles that have occupied my driveway this year. Oh sure, there are the occasional duds, a purple Camaro is a notable example, but for the most part my acquaintances have little sympathy when I complain about the long hours I spend writing and researching. To them, I have a job that consists of fast days on twisty mountain roads and plush press events. Of course I'm not complaining, for fear of losing my job to one of the millions of people who would kill to have it, but there are times when the deadlines and 60 hour weeks get a little overwhelming. Every so often, however, a car is dropped off that reminds me why this is such a fantastic job, and when BMW showed up with a 528i, I knew that my complaining would be over for awhile.
Everyone had warned me that I didn't want a rear wheel drive car for winter driving, so when the first decent snowstorm hit Rhode Island, I decided it was time to see what they were talking about. I grabbed the camera, jumped into my 1991 5-Series BMW (without ASC!) on Pirelli P6000 All-Season tires, and headed for the snow.Since this is my first rear wheel driver car, I had a lot of learning to do. Following my friend Josh's lead, I went to a deserted parking lot with about six inches of snow. This was a mistake. The parking lot had a very slight incline, but it was enough to render my car immobile. After kicking some snow away from the rear tires, I was able to back out of the lot (downhill).
